Themes
This applies to: Managed Dashboards, Managed Reports
A theme is a collection of existing styles, which you can apply all at once to a view such as a dashboard or report.
Create a New Theme
-
To create a theme, click Create Theme in the toolbar. (If an element in your view is selected, click an empty area of the canvas first.)
-
In the New Theme dialog, set a Name, and in the Save dialog that appears, optionally also change the selected folder Location for the theme.
-
Returning to the New Theme dialog, click Add style. In the Open dialog, select an existing style to be added to the theme.
-
Add other styles to the theme as desired.
-
Click the submit button at the bottom to save the theme.
-
To see the new theme, go to the Explore window and expand the Themes folder. Right-click the folder and click Refresh first, if needed.
Adding multiple styles compatible with the same element will apply them all in order. For example, chart styles are compatible with all other charts.
Apply a Theme
Create a new blank dashboard, or open an existing dashboard. Add a couple of button components and a metric set visualized as a bar chart.
There are a couple of ways to apply a saved style to an element such as this button, as well as any other type of element or to a visualization in a full screen metric set.
-
Drag a theme from the Explore window and drop it onto the canvas. The theme is applied to the current view, applying its styles to every element that's compatible.
-
Alternatively, click Apply Theme in the toolbar. (If an element is selected, first click an empty area of the canvas to de-select it.) In the Open dialog, select the theme you want to apply, and then click the submit button at the bottom of the dialog.
Set a Default Theme
Administrators can configure Dundas BI so that a default theme is applied when first creating visualizations, components, and filters, to customize their default colors and other appearance. This includes when data is first added to a visualization, or when re-visualizing the entire visualization when editing or viewing.
See the article on setting a default theme for details.
